Plan to Live Your Dreams

Recently I was kicking around in my mind what the family plans should be for the summer. Life gets so busy sometimes but I find if you don’t plan any specific vacations, they tend not to happen. Life gets in the way and you just keep doing the same things.

It occurred to me that most people spend more time planning their summer vacation then they do planning their life. So I thought I would share with you a couple of great strategies that have helped me to move my life forward toward my dreams.

Life Planning Strategies

1) Make a Quarterly Life Plan
I take time every 90 days to plan where I want my life to go in the next 3 months. I set 90 day goals for all the key areas of my life: health and fitness, family and friends, career, finances, personal growth, and philanthropy.

For each of the 6 categories I write up to 3 main goals. These goals are written in a personal, definite form with a time line attached. I then write 3 action steps for each goal that can be completed in the next 3 months.

2) Create an Unfinished Tasks List.

Create an unfinished tasks list for business and for personal items. You are basically doing a brain dump of any unfinished things that are draining you. It might be something as simple as changing the lightbulb in the utility room, organizing a closet, or emailing a friend. Whatever it is write it down. It is liberating just to get it on paper and then you can stop wasting mental energy trying to remember it. To actually go through and do these things can be so freeing psychologically.

Start planning your life and ditching your burdens to help you reach for your dreams.
